My name is Sarah Francis. I live with my charming and tech-savvy husband, Mr. Francis. We share our humble abode with two crazy English Bulldogs, Bentley & Gorgeous George. They are the life of the party in our home and take advantage of us at every possible chance.
I am recently certified as a Sommelier, that is an “I know more about wine than YOU certificate” and have passed the intro-sommelier certification through the Court of Master Sommeliers, watch out world.
I grew up in Oklahoma City with four siblings and was taught from a young age to speak up or forever hold your peace. I watched my mother bake a cake, brownies, or cookies most every night of my life, I thought all families were so lucky. I also learned a love for wine, our religion was to anoint with olive oil and drink a glass of red wine to heal sickness. I realize this sounds like we were Italians or alcoholics maybe, but in fact we were Church of the First Born, and the interesting facts of that religion stop with the wine. The important part is I learned to love the intoxicating burn of heavy red wine down the back of the throat and the feeling of expensive wine hitting the belly. Over the years I have developed somewhat of a snobbery to the mass produced juice on shelves and spend a lot of time researching the market for the best quality and value.
The more I get to know about the juice, the more I love it, and a once carefree wine-gulping girl, has now become a rather picky (embarrassing my husband all the while) wine consumer. Everything from the glass, temperature, and grape varietal influence my mood. Yes, it can ruin a moment if the wine too warm or too cold. I have become that girl.
At Mighty Blonde's conception, I was living in Oklahoma City and wanted more of a lifestyle blog (think:Dooce). Shortly after marrying (in none other than the great Northern CA wine country), we moved to Miami, and loved it, but not enough to stay more than about a year or so.
Then on to Dallas, and even a stint in Boston (Rockport, MA was my main stay), love them lobsters.
Now, Mighty Blonde is on her way home-to Oklahoma, where we can find fried okra readily available.
And hear tornado sirens weekly, because that is what it's all about friends.
Mighty Blonde has taken on more of a wine theme, seeing as that is what I actually know about, and also cooking; because that is what I am learning daily about.....someday, who knows there may even be a little gardening tab up there (that is my fantasy).
The cooking and recipes are always a gamble and I am pretty fearless in the way of trying new items and techniques, so please when following my advice, due so with caution.
BTW- This picture is me in Boquete, Panama at breakfast....gorgeous place! Not so sure why I always give a side profile of that nose though.
Happy Reading, Drinking, and Eating.
