2005 Liberty School Chardonnay

Liberty School Chardonnay 2005

Looking for a Winter White? Well, I hope you like OAK. This delightfully round, sweet, oak-y chardonnay is perfect for those tired of the citrus forward wines. It also happens to be on the low end of the totum pole pricing. That is always a big fat plus in my book. Plenty of warmth, great for those in cooler climates wanting a Winter White.

Not to worry, it is not all oak and no fruit-y fun for the fans of Chardonnay. There is plenty of fruit, in a creamy candy sort of way. Think caramel coated green apple or maybe a honey dipped bosc pear. Oak is the first thing that hits my nose and moistens my palate, light cinnamon and allspice make the combination of French and American Oak apparent.

I want to have this slightly chilled, not as cold as the lighter whites. It has a warm honey color, and I instantly want to pair it with some toasted nuts and cheese.

Pairing:
This wine is perfect, I know because I tried, with those fancy Marcona almonds. They are the sweeter rounder almonds, light in color and typically eaten by the food snobs. For a cheese, an extra creamy Brie or Brunet.
It also is great alone, as it is warm, round, and oak-y with plenty of alcohol.
